Chinese Hot and Spicy Asparagus Salad

1 tablespoon garlic -- minced fine 1 tablespoon ginger -- grated fresh 1/2 teaspoon salt -- or herbal salt substitute 1 package Splenda -- or other AS 2 tablespoons soy sauce -- or tamari 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil 1 tablespoon rice vinegar 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes -- (optional) dried 1 pound asparagus -- ends trimmed, cut into 3-inch pieces
In a large bowl combine garlic, ginger, salt, sweetener, soy, sesame oil, rice vinegar, cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes. Steam asparagus for 4 to 8 minutes, or until just tender, and drain.
Toss with sauce. Serve warm or chilled.
Makes 4 servings.
